Contactless Experience & Check-In

How does contactless check-in work

We're fully contactless — no front desk, no lines, no paperwork. After booking, you'll receive a text with a link to complete a 2-minute digital registration. Before your arrival, you'll get a link to our digital guidebook with property information and local recommendations. Around 3:00 PM on arrival day, your room number and door code are activated and sent to you. Head straight to your room, no stops necessary. Our team is available 24/7 by phone and 8am-10pm by text if you need anything. For more information, click here to see our How it Works page.

What if I'm not comfortable with technology?

No problem at all! Our team is available 24/7 by phone or text at (530) 235-4395. We'll walk you through every step. Think of it as having a concierge in your pocket: always available to help, without any time spent standing at a front desk.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Room access codes are activated at 3:00 PM on your arrival day. Check-out is at 11:00 AM — just lock your door and go, no front desk stop required. Late checkout is available for a fee ($25 until noon, $50 until 1:00 PM), subject to availability. Text or call us to request.

Booking & Rates

How do I book a room?
Book directly at theanglerlodge.com, call us at (530) 235-4395, or email guestservices@theanglerlodge.com. You'll always find the lowest rates, typically 10-15% less than third-party sites, when booking directly with us.
What is your cancellation policy?
For Standard Rooms (Caddis King, Tippet Two Queen, Midge Queen), cancellations made more than 7 days before arrival are free. Cancel within 7 days and you'll be charged one night's room and tax. For our Tailwater and Freestone Suites during peak season (May 1–September 30), cancellations within 7 days are charged 100% of the full reservation. Outside peak season, the standard one-night policy applies. If you depart before your scheduled checkout date, you will be charged one additional night's room and tax. For suites in peak season, you’ll be charged the full amount of your original reservation. As a very small, family-owned property, we cannot make exceptions for weather, road conditions, or personal emergencies.
When will my credit card be charged?
We process a $1 per night authorization when you book to validate your card. The full balance is charged 7 days before your arrival date, or at the time of booking for reservations made within 7 days of arrival.

Rooms & Amenities

What's included in every room?
All rooms include complimentary fiber-optic WiFi, free parking, 50" 4K satellite TV, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, individual climate control, and recently renovated bathrooms. Every room features vintage fly fishing lodge design by renowned designer Joanne Palmisano. WiFi password: 'welcome!' (with exclamation point, all lowercase). You'll also have access to The Eddy, our guest library and living room.
What is The Eddy?
The Eddy is our cozy guest library and living room — your home away from home. Named after the slow-moving river eddies where fish (and anglers) like to gather, it features books to borrow, comfortable seating, outlets for charging devices, and self-service guest items. It's accessible 24/7 using the same door code as your room.
Is parking free?
Yes — free on-site parking for all guests.
Is breakfast included?
No on-site breakfast — and that's intentional. We're committed to supporting Dunsmuir's local restaurants, which do it far better than we ever could. We highly recommend Bee Kind Café (artisanal coffee and breakfast items) and Cornerstone Café (breakfast served all day). Since hours change frequently in a small town, it's always worth a quick text to us before heading out.

Pets & Fishing

Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Dogs up to 85 pounds are welcome (maximum 2 per room) for $30 per night. Register your pet at the time of booking by selecting 'I'm bringing a pet!' during checkout, or notifying us before your arrival. Unregistered pets result in a $250 fee. Service animals are always welcome with no fee.
I'm here to fish — where do I start?
Start with Bob Grace at Ted Fay Fly Shop ((530) 235-2969), just minutes from the lodge. Bob is a legendary local expert who can introduce you to fishing guides, provide fishing licenses, and ensure you're compliant with local regulations. The Upper Sacramento River is literally steps from your room, but we’re also well-positioned for day trips to the McCloud River and Lake Siskiyou. Text or call us and we can help arrange a guide.
What if I'm not here to fish?
Most of our guests aren't here to fish! While we celebrate our fly-fishing heritage, The Angler Lodge welcomes all explorers. Nearby activities include hiking (Hedge Creek Falls — a 30-foot waterfall you can walk behind — is very close), Castle Crags State Park, Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens, Lake Siskiyou (10 minutes), Mount Shasta Ski Park (15 minutes), and the charming town of Mount Shasta just 10 minutes north.

Location & Getting Here

How far are you from I-5?
We're moments from Interstate 5 (Exit 730). Access to and from the freeway is very convenient. We're a natural stopping point for I-5 travelers heading north or south.
Is there an Amtrak station nearby?
Yes. The Dunsmuir Amtrak Station is just a few blocks from The Angler Lodge, making us ideal for train travelers. Passenger trains do tend to arrive at unusual hours, so plan accordingly.
What is the WiFi password?
The WiFi password is 'welcome!' (with an exclamation point, all lowercase). You'll also find it in your digital guidebook.
